Cookie Policy
How Syntax Highlighter uses cookies and local storage for preferences, security and sign-in.
The editor does not store your source code in cookies. Browser storage serves website preferences, security and temporary interactions.
Preferences and temporary state
We remember your chosen interface language and light or dark appearance so you do not have to select them on every visit. A temporary cookie can carry a programming-language selection from an old link, and is removed after the homepage loads the matching example. Other short-lived cookies show messages after navigation. These preferences and temporary messages do not contain the source code you enter in the editor.
A security cookie helps distinguish browser requests and limit automated abuse. Deleting it removes this browser identifier; a later visit may create a new one. It is not a saved copy of your code.
How long browser storage lasts
Some cookies expire automatically; others remain until their expiry date or until you delete them. Your appearance preference is stored locally until you clear the website’s storage. You can inspect individual cookie expiry dates in your browser. Deleting browser data does not delete information already submitted through feedback or an account, and it does not remove downloaded files. Use the privacy contact below for requests concerning server-held information.
Managing browser storage
Use your browser settings to inspect, block or delete cookies and local storage. Deleting them may reset your preferences or sign you out; blocking security cookies can prevent account or feedback functions from working. Your downloaded code files are not removed when you clear website storage.
Sign-in and security
Account features use session and short-lived verification cookies for sign-in, password recovery, authorization and security checks. These are separate from the language preference and legacy-link cookie. Cloudflare security checks, including Turnstile on the feedback form, may also process browser storage and connection information.
